It is almost embarrassing to share how many strollers we have owned in our almost decade of being parents! Frankly, though, one stroller may not always meet your every need for every occasion. With our first two children, we owned a Britax stroller and carseat combo, a sit and stand, a single Bob, a compact fold stroller by Ingenuity and a double Bob. When our third child came along, the only strollers we had were the double Bob and the compact fold stroller by Ingenuity, neither of which would provide us with the functionality we needed for a single, new baby. We love the double Bob for our older kids when we spend the day at Disney, but at 9 and 7 years old now, they’re outgrowing it. The compact fold stroller is a great option for a toddler or older child. One stroller option that we have not owned, but admittedly I would love, is a wagon; I just can’t justify it though!

Shortly after our third child was born, I spent a ridiculous amount of time researching strollers. I wanted to make sure we invested in a stroller that could grow with two more kids, and had great maneuverability at a reasonable price point. In the end, the final choice was between the Mockingbird single to double stroller and the Evenflo Pivot Xpand. There are quite a few similarities between the two strollers but what ultimately sold me on the Evenflo Pivot Xpand was the price point and the ability for the included seat to convert to a bassinet, rather than having to buy a separate bassinet.

Here’s why we love the Evenflo Pivot Xpand:

  • Maneuverability: You can stroll along with one hand.
  • Single to double: The ability to go from single to double is as simple as flipping up the second seat attachment and moving the handle bar and gliders up on the top seat as necessary.
  • Existing basket: The basket underneath the stroller is spacious on its own.
  • Market basket: I wanted extra space for groceries at the store, or bags when out for the day, like at Disney.
  • Telescoping handle: Accommodates taller pushers and when the top seat is at the highest setting.
  • Tires: The tires are not air filled so we don’t have to worry about flats, like with our Bob.
  • Bassinet and lay-flat features: Although there are some configurations that don’t work with the lay-flat options when used as a double, I love the ability for the included seat to be a bassinet for my infant, and the second seat to lay-flat for my toddler during nap time.
  • Stroller rider board: We do not have this but love this as an option for an older child.

Realities of the stroller – I don’t necessarily think of these as cons, per se.

  • Bulky: It’s not a compact stroller. You can store it in the trunk with one seat attached. When the seats are removed, the frame stands up on its own. I store it in our trunk separately because it’s easier to lift and fit in the trunk when separated.
  • Second seat: Like many single to doubles, the second seat is not included.
  • Trays: Snack trays are not included, just a bar. We prefer not to use the bar, and we haven’t felt like we are missing out on not having a snack tray, at this point.
  • Included drink holder: In some configurations, a drink in the drink holder is easily accessible by the child in the top seat.
  • Two-handed fold: This is not a one-hand folding stroller.

Below are multiple configurations of the Evenflo Pivot Xpand, this is not all-inclusive as I do not have a car seat or adapter I used with this stroller, or the stroller rider board. If there is a configuration you’d like me to try out for you, just let me know in the comments!
